It's been a while...
I have been rather caught up with redoing my webpages - it's amazing how much I have to say about myself! No, really, about my knitting and my friends and family. There are about seven knitting pages I want to put up, most of them of my own designs, and three of friends and family, including one about my late partner Narelle, who died in November of 2002. It's a slow and time-consuming process; still, I look on it as a skills development exercise, as I am currently unemployed.
Here is a picture of my house.

I've been here now for four months, and have had the inside painted and made curtains for every room. Now I'm only have to make a blind for the front door, and two for the kitchen.
This has been a huge enterprise, which I couldn't have done without the assistance of Sandra. Who is Sandra? She is an old friend who has recenly become more than that to me - she has become my lover. And she is a woman who not only has a hammer drill and a power screw driver, she has two sewing machines - a conventional one and an overlocker (I think these are called sergers in the US - kapiche?). Gotta love a grrl with tools!

As you can see, she's a knitter. And a sweetie. I am very lucky to have her in my life.
I also have a sewing machine, so between us we drilled holes into the masonry, installed tracks, measured, pressed, sewed, pressed and hung four sets of curtains, three of them fully lined and two of those more than 3 metres wide.
Now, some curtains pictures:
Study (I can see out through these but I get privacy as this room faces the street)

Dining room (living room the same but bigger)

Bedroom

They just make the house so, well, so homely . And they keep the heat reduced in our lovely Sydney summer. (Did you spot the sarcasm there? I am not a fan of hot weather!) And they detract from the extremely ugly aluminium windows that a former owner so thoughtfully installed in the 1970s.
And now I am going back to the sewing machine to make some cushions for lounging on the bed. Saturday morning, fresh strong coffee, the weekend edition of the Sydney Morning Herald, Sandra to dissect/discuss/critique the week's news with ... you get the picture.

Hey there! Welcome to the QueerKnit ring! Thanks for joining - I look forward to reading your blog often! :-)
