Just a quick post today. Still knitting on the luxury lace scarf out of the cashmere leftovers. Thinking about returning to my cable sweater as the evenings get cooler. But it looks like we will be having an indian summer this week - they are talking a return to 100C temps! Roll on my trip to NZ at Easter!
Put Sandra onto the plane to Brisbane yesterday and returned to contemplate my life. After I posted my brave little chin-up missive on Friday I got two more set-backs. First, a letter about a position I had really coveted - Program Manager for Arts at Sydney Uni's Continuing Education Department. They're not even going to interview me! Then to cap it all off, a letter from Centrelink (the pension administrator here): As I have been in recepit of a pension for 12 weeks, next week I have to attend a meeting at the employment service to discuss why I haven't yet secured a job. This will cover how to improve my CV (they generated a two-page resume for me which hardly compares to the 12-page one that I use), and will talk to me about what to wear to an interview (doh! Maybe my suits aren't quite right), and how to usethe internet and newspapers to look for a job and photocopiers and faaxes to put in my applications. Most of which are either posted or emailed.
This depressed me infinitely, I have to say. Of course I will attend, take my CV and ask what is wrong with it (it has got me interviews in 7 out of 8 applications), talk about my interview techniques (why do they always say I presented well?), and hope like hell we can skip the newspaper, internet, photocopier and fax training.
I know: just jump through the hoops, M-H. Sandra took me out for a lovely meal on Friday night and got me tipsy (I am such a cheap drunk!) and I slept like a babby for the first time in days.
I have bought a pattern to make a new shirt and am on a mission to learn how to make pants that fit. That will keep me quiet for a few days.
