Kid's stuff
I have stopped all my big knitting for a few days, thanks to my friend Anne. She is an artist who has been a great friend for me over several years now. She is always interested in what I am knitting, and last week she gave me two skeins of cotton that she had hand painted. One is turqouise and white and the other is a rainbow of pastels. So I have started a little scarf (around granddaughter size) in the turquiose and white, in the manner of the multi-directional scarf pattern that Karen Baumer has published.
When I've done this I think that I will make another in some kind of chevron pattern in the rainbow cotton. I do have two granddaughters, after all. I have fiddled with this pic a couple of times, but i can't get the depth of colour in the yarn to show up in my primitive graphics program. You'll have to imagine it.
Anne is about to become a grandmother so I am making a pair of bootees in Koigu. This is an ancient pattern that I've used for years - they come out like little buttoned shoes, with a little 'sock' in a plain yarn. Too cute! By the way, please don't write and ask me for this pattern. It was published in a book called Fashion Knitting in 1984 by Pam Dawson and it's copyright.

Rosarie
I-cord top-down gloves
Shapely Cardi
Ethereal Fichu

Both scarves are going to look delightful and I think i have an idea of the rainbow yarn's colour!
I have a similar pattern for the button-up "shoe" bootees, in an old Patons book (Bootees Galore maybe?) that I think is older than 1984.

The blue and white scarf is going to look great M-H. I do like that pattern. Love the multi-coloured yarn too, but the booties, too cute!
