My sweetie has been knitting too. She loves a challenge, so she has been making weird socks.
...then there are the double-thickness-sole ankle socks with the lace tops.
Do you notice something, er, strange about both these pairs of socks? I know the photos aren't very good, but you should be able to see that neither pair match in size. Sandra is being plagued by the odd-sock-size fairy. The first pair are knitted from side-to-side. She made the leg of the first one longer than the pattern, but she forgot to make a note on the pattern. So when she came back to make the second one a couple of weeks later, she made it exactly according to the pattern.
The second pair were very complex to knit and she was concentrating so hard on the instructions for the first one that her tension went all to buggery. She was more confident wih the second one of the pair and its size was pretty normal.
Now she's looking for a woman with two odd-sized feet. Or one leg longer than the other. (She says she's found one, but I'm not sure which category I fit into...)
