After a blissful week at home, I was not ready to leave Sandra in her jarmies and 'still-at-home' bliss this morning. We both agreed we needed at least one more week of pottering, entertaining, dozing. But we couldn't have it. She's doing some work things from home this week and I am The Manager on deck for our team - I'm four managers today. New staff member is settled in, another staff member's access card has expired, somone who's supposed to be on leave has decided to come back to work, people say they don't have enough work to do, what's to be done with academics who can't seem to read emails... (shoot 'em, I say, but no-one listens...). At least I'm in no danger of boredom.
We are planning a little break at the end of January, and then a MUCH BIGGER AND MORE EXCITING ONE IN MAY/JUNE. But that's a secret just now. I'll just say that I may not be in Australia for my 60th birthday on June 5th*. Squeeee!
OMG, I just blogged in the lunch break and it wasn't that difficult. Hmmm...
* Yes, you may enter that date in your diaries.

I have my first day back at work tomorrow. Sigh... When I get into the routine of working it's fine, but going back after time off is taxing.
(and yes, I have entered June 5 in my diary)

60th birthday. Overseas. Now that sounds exciting.

I'm with you on the solution to academics who don't respond to email. But don't tell my colleagues. I'm dreading going back to work myself, but having a good trip to look forward to certainly helps! :)
